In manufacturing, quality control is a process to ensure customers receive products free of defects and ones that meet their needs. Furthermore, manufacturers with quality control procedures in place are far less likely to face product recalls or place customers at risk from poorly made products. In summary, we help companies define, implement, and assess their quality management price. In this case, we had our Aerospace Expert Advisor help this company improve their aerospace QMS.
Problem to Solve
A manufacturing company in the aerospace industry was challenged with improving customer on-time delivery, improving manufacturing yield, and quickly ramping up technical resources during periods of high turnover. Additionally, they were experiencing a potential quality standard compliance risk with key customers and market growth constraints. Essentially, this resulted due to their lack of quality standards and certification.
Could we successfully put in place a quality control procedure to improve customer support and future sales opportunities?
Approach and Solution
We worked with the client and developed a three-step process to identify and implement solutions to key areas of impact. Additionally, we implemented solutions in the supplier performance program to align with corporate on time delivery goals and improved the quality of products and processes. Making the procedure more precise was critical. To illustrate, we implemented Visual Control Plans to better display process steps and associated controls. Also, we conducted a QMS gap assessment and a gap closure plan to enable certification of the aerospace QMS to the latest revisions of: ISO 9001:2015, AS9100 revision D, ISO 13485 medical revision 2016.
